RECs represent the property rights to the environmental, social and other non-power attributes of renewable electricity generation. RECs are issued when 1,000 kWh of electricity is generated from a renewable energy resource. Purchasing RECs allows you to retroactively classify energy from the grid as clean and renewable.

A Carbon Offset project is intended to reduce emissions, increase the storage of carbon, or enhance greenhouse gas removals from the atmosphere. Offsets represent a metric ton of emissions avoided or reduced.
